Certified Financial Planner Expert

AfterQuery builds the expert evaluation data that frontier AI labs use to measure and improve their models. We're hiring CFP professionals as contractors to author and grade the financial planning scenarios those evaluations run on.

What you'll actually do

• Author realistic financial planning scenarios from goal discovery through plan delivery, the kind a practicing planner actually works.
• Write reference answers with the planning reasoning behind each recommendation, from retirement drawdown to insurance coverage.
• Grade model output for accuracy, completeness, and fiduciary soundness.
• Flag advice that reads plausible but would harm the client, the misses only a practitioner would catch.

Who this is for

• CFP professionals in good standing with at least two years of client facing planning work.
• Planners with depth across retirement, tax, insurance, and estate planning, not just investment selection.
• Fiduciary minded practitioners who can articulate why a recommendation serves the client.
• People with strong written English who can turn planning judgment into clear, teachable reasoning.

Contract and pay

• $85 to $130/hr, paid weekly via Stripe. Your rate is set from your experience, not negotiated down after you start.
• Fully remote, fully async. No fixed hours.
• Minimum 10 hours per week, no maximum. Scale up or down week to week.
• No screen recording, no keystroke monitoring, no idle timers.
• Independent contractor. Ongoing project work rather than single task batches.

How our hiring process works

1. Apply at /apply/certified-financial-planner-expert. About five minutes. Resume plus a few structured questions.
2. Resume review. Every application gets read against a published rubric and gets a decision.
3. Written assessment. You may be asked to take a written assessment for further placement.
4. Onboarding. Sign the contractor agreement, connect Stripe, and get platform access.
5. Project match. You're matched to live work in your specialty, usually within a week of onboarding.

Requirements

• Active CFP certification in good standing
• 2+ years of client facing financial planning experience
• Depth across retirement, tax, insurance, and estate planning
• Clear written English for documenting planning reasoning
• Able to commit at least 10 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Fee only or fiduciary practice experience
• Additional credentials such as CPA, CFA, or ChFC
• Complex case experience such as equity compensation or business owners
