Product Manager Expert

AfterQuery builds the expert evaluation data that frontier AI labs use to measure and improve their models. We're hiring product managers as contractors to author and grade the product judgment scenarios those evaluations run on.

What you'll actually do

• Author realistic product scenarios from ambiguous problem through shipped decision, the kind a working PM actually navigates.
• Write reference answers with the prioritization and tradeoff reasoning made explicit, what you cut, what you bet on, and why.
• Grade model output on specs, roadmaps, and strategy for judgment quality, not formatting.
• Flag plans that read polished but dodge the hard tradeoff or ignore the user.

Who this is for

• Product managers with at least two years owning a live product or feature area.
• PMs who can point to shipped work and the outcomes behind it, not just process.
• Operators fluent in the real rituals, roadmaps, PRDs, analytics, experiments, and the meetings between them.
• People with strong written English whose specs actually get read.

Contract and pay

• $60 to $110/hr, paid weekly via Stripe. Your rate is set from your experience, not negotiated down after you start.
• Fully remote, fully async. No fixed hours.
• Minimum 10 hours per week, no maximum. Scale up or down week to week.
• No screen recording, no keystroke monitoring, no idle timers.
• Independent contractor. Ongoing project work rather than single task batches.

How our hiring process works

1. Apply at /apply/product-manager-expert. About five minutes. Resume plus a few structured questions.
2. Resume review. Every application gets read against a published rubric and gets a decision.
3. Written assessment. You may be asked to take a written assessment for further placement.
4. Onboarding. Sign the contractor agreement, connect Stripe, and get platform access.
5. Project match. You're matched to live work in your specialty, usually within a week of onboarding.

Our contributors are practicing professionals, not annotators, and the work is credited, reviewed, and paid at professional rates.

Requirements

• 2+ years as a product manager owning a live product or feature area
• Shipped work you can point to, specs, launches, and the outcomes behind them
• Fluency with product tools and rituals, roadmaps, PRDs, analytics, and experiments
• Clear written English for documenting product reasoning
• Able to commit at least 10 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

• B2B SaaS, consumer, or platform product depth
• Technical background or close work with engineering teams
• Experience with AI or data products
