Audio Transcription Specialist

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone with strong listening skills and a sharp eye for detail. No professional transcription experience required.

What You'll Do

• Transcribe audio recordings into accurate, well-formatted written text following clear guidelines
• Handle a variety of audio types — different accents, speaking speeds, and recording qualities
• Apply consistent formatting, punctuation, and speaker-labeling conventions
• Flag unclear or inaudible segments and note speaker changes where relevant
• Meet quality and turnaround targets for each assigned batch of audio
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule

Who You Are

• A strong, focused listener who catches nuance and detail in spoken language
• Comfortable typing accurately at a reasonable pace
• Patient and methodical when working through challenging audio (accents, background noise, overlapping speakers)
• Able to follow detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently
• Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
• No prior transcription or AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Previous experience with transcription tools or audio software
• Familiarity with different English accents or multilingual audio
• Background in journalism, linguistics, media production, or accessibility work
