Opportunity Overview

Handshake is seeking experienced Earth, Marine & Space Science Professors to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time faculty role. You’ll use your real-world experience teaching geology to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand geological concepts, field practices, and academic language.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.

Who This Is For

This project is designed for professionals who are already working (or have recently worked) in roles such as:

Deliver lectures and supervise laboratory and field work in atmospheric, earth, marine, and space sciences, while maintaining student records and evaluating academic performance.

Engage in research, publish findings, and participate in professional development.

Collaborate on curriculum development and serve on academic committees, contributing to institutional policies and departmental matters.

This is not a traditional full-time role. You’ll apply once and, if qualified, be considered for part-time, project-based work as new projects become available.

What You’ll Do

This project involves using your professional experience as a Geology Professor to design job-related questions and review AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and relevance to real-world geology instruction.

No prior AI or technical experience is required.

Qualifications

We’re looking for established professionals with:

4+ years of professional experience teaching geology or closely related Earth science subjects at the post-secondary level

Hands-on experience designing and delivering geology courses, labs, or field-based instruction

Strong written communication skills and attention to detail

Comfortable working independently and following written guidelines

Professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion and confidentiality, especially with sensitive or proprietary information.
