Role Title: Clinical Publications Author Role Type: Contractor Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Clinical Publications Authors to participate in a customer’s project focused on developing advanced AI-assisted tools for medical and scientific writing. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.
Scope of WorkTask Authoring & Review: Author and review realistic evaluation tasks based on peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, scientific abstracts, conference posters, and presentation decks to inform AI tool development. Structural & Formatting Assessment: Apply expert judgment to assess whether AI-generated draft sections align with publisher formatting standards, journal guidelines, and international publication ethics (such as ICMJE, GPP, and relevant EQUATOR Network reporting guidelines like CONSORT or STROBE). Scientific Accuracy & Interpretation: Evaluate scientific accuracy in manuscripts, abstracts, and discussion sections, distinguishing true errors in data interpretation or medical reasoning from stylistic or editorial preferences. Data Verification: Trace publication claims and narratives directly to source records—such as Clinical Study Reports (CSRs), protocols, and Tables, Figures, and Listings (TFLs)—to verify that all statements are accurately grounded in data. Structured Feedback: Provide clear and structured written rationales for each assessment, enabling precise diagnosis and improvement of AI model behavior. Framework Refinement: Collaborate with project leads to refine evaluation criteria and document best practices for scientific publishing workflows within AI development environments.
Preferred QualificationsMinimum 5 years of dedicated medical/scientific publication authoring experience within a sponsor, CRO, MedComms agency, or as an independent consultant. Direct experience lead-authoring or managing peer-reviewed manuscripts published in reputable biomedical or clinical journals. Strong working knowledge of publication guidelines (ICMJE, GPP3/GPP2022, CONSORT), copyright compliance, and journal submission workflows. Demonstrated capability to interpret complex clinical data (TFLs, statistical analysis plans) and translate them into clear, publication-ready scientific narratives. Exceptional written communication skills, with a proven track record of providing actionable, structured feedback on scientific draft materials. Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine (PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc) or equivalent depth of authoring experience. Therapeutic area diversity across multiple clinical phases; expertise in oncology, immunology, or rare diseases is especially valued.
