We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Form Annotation Specialist to support the creation of high-quality structured data from tax documents. This role combines tax domain knowledge with hands-on experience in document annotation tools (e.g., Label Studio).

You will be responsible for identifying, labeling, and structuring data fields within tax forms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and correct relationships between fields.

  • Familiarity with relationships between fields (income, deductions, credits, totals)
  • Ability to interpret tax form instructions from authorities (e.g., IRS or equivalents)
  • Comfortable researching and understanding new form types independently

Annotation & Technical Skills

  • Experience with Label Studio or similar annotation tools
  • Proficiency in bounding box annotation and structured labeling
  • Understanding of data types (text, date, currency, checkbox, etc.)
  • Familiarity with JSON/YAML for reviewing annotation outputs
  • Experience defining field schemas and validation rules
  • Ability to map relationships between fields

Responsibilities

  • Analyze tax forms to identify fields, structures, and dependencies
  • Define and apply annotation schemas (labels, field names, data types)
  • Accurately annotate documents using bounding boxes
  • Map relationships between related fields (e.g., calculations, dependencies)
  • Validate annotation outputs (JSON/YAML) to ensure accuracy and alignment with source documents
  • Document rules, assumptions, and edge cases for consistency across annotations

Nice to Have

  • Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation
  • Experience working with document AI or training datasets
  • Previous experience with large-scale annotation projects

Perks of Freelancing With Turing:

  • Work at the forefront of AI applications in accounting and finance.
  • Fully remote and flexible work environment.
  • Opportunity to collaborate on high-impact projects with global reach.

Offer Details:

  • Commitment: upto 40 hrs/week.
  • Duration: ~1 month, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
