We are looking for an experienced Tree Arborist to support an AI data annotation project focused on tree identification, tree health assessment, and forestry-related image review. This role is ideal for someone with deep field experience in arboriculture who can accurately evaluate tree species, structure, condition, and visible defects from images.
Requirements

5+ years of professional arboriculture or forestry experience

ISA Certified Arborist preferred or required

Strong knowledge of tree species identification, tree structure, pruning standards, defects, disease, pests, and health indicators

Experience assessing trees from images, field surveys, or inspection reports

Ability to follow detailed annotation guidelines and provide clear reasoning for decisions

Strong attention to detail and consistency

Comfortable working remotely on a computer-based annotation platform

Prior experience with tree risk assessment, municipal forestry, utility vegetation management, or urban forestry is a plus
Responsibilities

Review tree images and identify species or likely species groups

Assess visible tree health, structural issues, defects, decay, canopy condition, and risk indicators

Label and categorize trees based on project-specific guidelines

Provide quality feedback on annotations completed by other reviewers

Help refine taxonomy, labeling standards, and edge-case decisions

Ensure high accuracy and consistency across all assigned tasks
