MBA Intern - AI Operations, Law & Regulatory

Law remote

We're hiring MBA interns for quality assurance and operations for our law and regulatory evaluation track. This is a 12-week, full-immersion internship. You'll oversee the work produced by our legal master's evaluators and make sure it meets the quality bar that AI lab clients expect. Around 20% of your time goes toward structured AI training: how large language models work, how RLHF fits into the development pipeline, and what quality standards look like for legal and regulatory AI evaluation data. No prior AI knowledge is required. You'll learn everything on the job. The other 80% is hands-on QA, operations, and product testing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Quality-checking legal and regulatory evaluation output. Our legal evaluators (master's students in corporate law and regulatory affairs) produce RLHF preference rankings on AI-generated regulatory content (GDPR, EU AI Act, DMA, DSA, CSRD), compliance red-team reports, and regulatory QA datasets with reasoning chains. Each evaluation includes a rubric score and a written rationale. Your job is to audit that output. You'll check whether evaluators are correctly identifying invalid citations, whether their assessment of regulatory reasoning chains is sound, and whether quality is consistent across the team. Legal evaluation data needs to be precise. A wrong citation or a misapplied regulation that slips through can undermine an entire dataset. 2. Calibration across the legal team. Regulatory content has clear right and wrong answers, but edge cases exist. Does a specific GDPR provision apply in this context? Is the evaluator being too strict or too lenient on reasoning quality? You'll run inter-annotator agreement checks, resolve disagreements, calibrate new evaluators during onboarding, and make sure standards stay tight. 3. Testing Sovrano AI's products and tools. We're building internal tooling and AI-powered products (interview preparation agents, evaluation platforms, workflow automation). You'll test them as a real user would, finding bugs, edge cases, and UX issues, and documenting everything clearly for the product team. 4. Process improvement. With your MBA and 3-5 years of professional experience, you've seen how compliance, legal operations, or quality processes work in real organizations. You'll bring that perspective to how we run our regulatory evaluation pipeline: onboarding, quality feedback, client deliverables, and reporting. 5. Contributing to industry benchmarks. The evaluation work you do here feeds directly into the benchmarks top-tier AI labs use to assess and publicly report the factual capabilities of their models. When OpenAI, Google DeepMind, or Anthropic measure how well their models reason about finance, datasets built by evaluators like you are part of what they test against. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS Currently enrolled in an MBA program (or recently completed) 3-5 years of professional experience before your MBA, ideally with exposure to legal, compliance, or regulatory work Fluent in English plus at least one other European language Comfortable working independently in a fully remote setup Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace NICE TO HAVE Prior experience in corporate law, compliance, regulatory affairs, legal consulting, or risk management Practical exposure to GDPR, EU AI Act, or other EU regulatory frameworks Experience working across cultures or in international teams Comfort with structured data, spreadsheets, and basic analytics CONTRACT & PAYMENT TERMS
